Will I smell gas?

Post by Abloch »

Been reading about all the fuel tank conversions and people eluding to the scent of petrol in the cab.

Is this standard for the sweptlines?

Thanks, Andrew

Not if you have all new hoses and make sure your connections are good. I NEVER smell gas in my '68!

If you replace the gas tank seal with a seal from a '66 - '70 B-body (EXACTLY the same seal!), that will fix your in-cab fuel smell problems!!!

Which seal are you referring to, one of these?

Yup. I took the good seal off my old '66 Coronet tank and set it next to the seal off the truck...exactly the same part! So I used the car seal on the truck tank and have had zero issues with gas smell in the cab since. I still want to go with a chassis-mount tank, but that is because I want to install two speakers, two subs and two amps behind the truck seat eventually.
