Hey guys,

I am ordering new rims for my 1971 D100..I was wondering if you can have too much backspacing in the rear. I am looking to fit a 255/45/18 tire and the rims have a +24mm offset and 6.44 inch backspacing. I am trying to measure and cant quite figure out if the backspacing will cause tires to rub on inside. Thanks.

On our 71 D100, I am running a 265/75 tire on 16x8 wheels with 4-1/2" back spacing. I just measured, and there's just under 3-1/2" of clearance from the sidewall to the leaf. The tires tuck under the fender nicely with ~1" to spare. Hopefully these measurements are enough for you to figure out your fitment.
