1964 dodge d100 Oklahoma shops?

Post by Mangra »

Image
Hi,
I recently got this truck in Oklahoma City and I was trying to get a few things fixed. I needed a couple of shop names
That our central oklahoma members trust. I understand that many of the members wrench their own. So you guys might not be able to help me a bunch. My mechanic in Norman retired and I was looking for a couple of good leads.
Initial work that it needs is clutch replacement and brakes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Robert in Oklahoma City

:welcome . Nice original looking '64 in sanddune white. :Thumbsup hrclutch.com is the best place for clutch parts that fit ( 11" 10 spline). I doubt you will find clutch parts locally, unless you take yours to a local brake /clutch re-line shop. :2cents

Thanks for the information
I had these clutch guys on my very short list for next week to buy the clutch/plate and bearing.
Any idea of the cost? I'm budgeting a couple of hundred for the clutch items.
This is a low mileage Texas truck with rust in the rockers and that's about it for rust.
Have a good day
Robert

Probably looking at least double that with shipping and exchange. Which transmission/motor do you have? Chris.

It's the original 318 poly with 3 on the tree. Oh well, it seems all car and truck projects go over budget anyway.

Thanks

Welcome, finding a garage that even knows how to work on classics.
That is actually a fairly easy drop, as far as the trans goes.
Brakes, well just depends on what needs done.
Again Welcome. :welcome
You might try Mike. He is an old mopar guy.

Brakes are pulling to the left on a panic stop. I saw a leak in the passenger rear that looked like brake fluid.
So this might explain the left pull.
I'll call mike next week and ask if he has a problem if I supply my own clutch kit.

Thanks for the info.

Love the poly! Make sure you resurface the fly wheel and replace the pilot and throw-out bearings. Looks like the truck had stainless steel exterior trim originally . Do you have it by chance?

My friend bought it from a salvage yard down near big springs Texas. It was robbed of all the exterior stainless and all
The interior knobs on the doors. Interior stuff was an easy replace. I bought the handles and dodge letter off ebay.
I would like to find some more trim one of these days, but I heard it's quite hard to get.

I have a complete set I bought a few months ago. If I decide to let it go, I'll let you know. It is really hard to find. :Thumbsup

I have several suggestions for shops in OKC for brakes, upholstery, and suspension work. PM me and we'll chat! I have two '68 D100 LWB pickups.

i have a pair of bed spear trim for a long bed. you can shorten it to fit a short bed with relatively simple metal fab work. i doubt you will ever find a pair of spears that actually came off a short bed. too long ago and too few made. 620-820-3793 JP in the land of Oz (Parsons KS).

That is what I did with the long bed trim I used on my '61. Used a cut off wheel, cut it a little longer for the return and slightly notched the ends. :Thumbsup

Chris,
I found old pictures of your completed build. I love what you did with the trim. My question is how did you get it so
Shinny? I think I could eat off your trim. Did you restore it yourself?
It was a fabulous job, and you should be very proud.

Robert, the early trim is stainless steel. It has light surface scratches. I used some SS polish and buffing pads. :Thumbsup

Sweet truck! :welcome to the forum. I found a twin to that truck a couple years back north of there, in Enid.

Doug,
I thought it was my truck. My buddy lives in Dover oklahoma and it's about 20 minutes from Enid. He owned the truck
Before he traded me for my messed up 1971 Orange power wagon and he frequently drove it to Enid. Very déjà vu.
The one in Enid doesn't have a chrome front number though. Could be my twin sister though.

Thanks
Robert

One truck has a short bed and the other has a long bed. One also looks to be in better condition than the other.
