I spotted a 5 or 600 dodge out at the Rose/Firth exit while headed for Idaho falls. I called the guy after passing the place five times. The truck was tandem axle with a fifth wheel plate, and a fuel trailer. When I called he had sold the truck *three hours earlier* to a farmer in the area to haul hay. The oddest feature was he said it had a 343 diesel in it. Anyone heard of this?

Yup; that's the one. A good one, too, according to Dad, who worked on them frequently back in the day.

Perkins is a good engine. you find them in Massey Ferguson. I did find a swing-fender '65 dodge with an L series Cummins in it, but I think it was someone's conversion from a detroit.

Perkins and Cummins were both available. In foreign markets the diesels were even available in light duty trucks.

I've seen that truck many times along the freeway there. Last summer when we drove by we never could find it. That's cool it has a diesel. I was going to try and get a picture but never did.
Too bad you couldn't get a hold of it.
