Rodger,
Thanks for all the help so far. The truck originally came with a 6cyl/NP435 combo. A 360/904 is what is in there now. I have access to the 435 if I want it. Plus at the pick a part I grabbed a bellhousing and flywheel off a small block, as I was not sure if those are interchangeable between the 6cyl and the V8 motors. ( do they interchange?) And I probably screwed up and let a 727 trans out of a 74 dodge van go, unless they put the 904 behind the 318 in the 1/2 ton vans. The truck is mainly going to just be a cruiser, i doubt I will be doing any heavy hauling with it. But if I change my mind, I can always put the 435 in it. I am trying to go as cheap as possible, but still be reliable/enjoyable on the street. Thanks again!!!

If you look for the model number or the serial number of the transmission,
you may find out that you have the A-998 or the A-999 Automatic. If so,
that would be a good thing. NAPA has an re-build kit ( they will ask for
the numbers, so look now ).

I would think to keep it as an automatic, since it is already there.

The Slant Six bell housing will only fit another Slant Six.
===================================================================
The Slant Six Fly Wheel will fit another Slant Six or an LA-318. The balance
for the LA-360 is different.

If you ever think of "hauling", do this first ( look at the attachment ).

Hualin the 1 time a year or once in a lifetime, can easily be handled by any transmission, don't loose performance because you "think" you need a heavy duty transmission for haulin something, any transmission in these light trucks can haul or your 1 tow in a lifetime, I haven't had a front bumper since I owned my truck since 1988, or a rear bumper since 1999, but I have used it to haul my belongings to Colorado, the 727 came out of a car, their is no real difference between a car engine and truck, except the truck engine's were built with all the low performance engineering and the car got a high performance horsepower,if you want a cruiser you'll be able to do any modern day haulin without worrying about it, so if you choose a drive line that you think you may need, you might miss your whole build intentions of having something to "Cruise" with :thinking
