will this work for PS conversion?

Post by viking66 »

Will this work to end our power steering conversion woes?
OUR WORLD RENOWNED ROCK RAM KIT
Off-roaders, rock crawlers, and enthusiasts with lifted SUVs and trucks with oversize tires no longer have to put up with unsafe and inadequate steering and wheel wobble. AGR has the solution to their steering problems. The AGR Rock Ram System will take care of such problems.

I found it at AGR Performance inc. out of Texas

Sure, Pismo has one of those setups on his Power wagon.

Okay great.... does it work well? Are there any draw backs I need to be concerned with? or is this the best possible approach at having a good power steering system for my old 66 PWagon? I will spend the money if it is a good setup and is safe and sturdy.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the AGR Rock Ram is a system where they take an integral power steering box and drill and tap it to accept fittings to controll an auxillary ram.It isnt a P.S. conversion, but rather,it increases the ability of the power steering you already have.

This thread shows Andy's steering setup.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13890

It looks to me(maybe Andy will chime in) as though he used the ram from AGR with a stock Bendix controll valve from a D100-300 sweptline truck. The piece of the drag link between the controll valve and the steering knuckle arm looks costom built.

Ok you guys lost me. Can i use it on my 66 D200 4wd that is now a NON power steering truck? Can I use this AGR Rock Ram kit just by intalling it or adding it to my manual steering I have now? I am not very experienced with power steering at all (except checking and adding fluid when needed). Please give me the answer for dummies so I can understand. Thanks all.

Well, you need something to tell it what to do, so you would need a power setup already, as it has what you need, what else works, I am not sure, but you need something.
