poly power steering bracket

Post by larryritz »

Am installing power steering on my Swepty. Is the power steering pump bracket for a poly the same as an LA 318?
I am using a Saginaw pump. If not the same mount, what can I use

May work depending on style of water pump. Just try it. :thinking :thinking

Did not work for me!! I have a 67 Poly, Canadian 318 and bought the CPP conversion kit for power steering. They sent me an LA PS bracket the mounted on to the timing gear cover. That is right where my bottom rad hose is! The right bracket mounts higher by the water pump. Had to search the net for the A bracket.

Good Luck
Larry

Thanks for the info. I too tried the LA bracket & found it would not work on my POLY as it has the old style water pump
Found a pre 1970 small block bracket on ebay - works great. I think the only way the CPP bracket would work is if I
changed the water pump ,but that would change the hose locations on the radiator ! You would think CPP would have
done a better job of putting this together

When you buys something supposedly made for your vehicle, you shouldn't have to modify it !!!

Problem with the Poly is we had it for one extra year and everything when it comes to parts for the Poly they ended in 66 in the US. Most parts places in Canada use US parts books and for us they are out a year. As for your problem , What year motor and style of water pump was the kit PS Pump supposed to fit.
