Speedometer Cable Routing

Post by HEtkind »

I was trying to lube the speedo cable on my 68 Utiline Shortbed, 318/727 and I think the cable is routed improperly. While Rock Auto parts fiche show either a 62 or a 82" cable, I had a 72" or so cable, routed not through the firewall, but into the top of the transmission tunnel which gives it some bad bends. Shouldn't it go through the firewall BEHIND the instrument cluster?
