That's probably not terrible for all the work you had done, you've got a brand new seat. The qoute given to me was strictly recovering using my existing foam. Roughly $100 for the vinyl and the rest being labor.Oldguy wrote:My seat cost just over $600 with tax. It was completely stripped to bare frame, the frame repainted and brand new burlap, foam and covering material. I thought the price was reasonable for the work that was done. So I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Mike

Re: seat upholstery prices?
You can expect $600 - $800 for a seat that is completely restored; i.e. new covering, burlap, padding, painting of the frame, and installation. For just a basic no-frills no-pattern recover job without the extras, then you might get $300. If you are going to have a new cover installed, you WILL regret not getting new foam while it's all apart! Been there, done that.
My son's '76 Buick Skylark coupe (GM X-body, same as Nova) cost me $940.00 for the front and rear seat in cloth and vinyl, plus both front headrests, with all-new padding. This also included the sunvisors! Very close to original cloth material, with the same pleats as stock. With the one-piece headliner recovered, and the new carpet kit I ordered (and have yet to install!), I'm into the interior for $1,200. I don't think that is too bad.

Re: seat upholstery prices?
Google EZ boy upholstery, they are a division of Lebaron Bonney.
They quoted me a price of $199 in one of many choices of vinyl or cloth...generic.
I wanted something as original as possible, EZ boy quoted me $180 if I supply my own material. My local guy quoted me $225 I supply, and a gal I know quoted me $200 I supply.
So I found NOS original material. $75 yard with pattern and $50 a yard plain. So I shelled out $200 for material and $200 labor. $400 got me this.....

Re: seat upholstery prices?
I am into old Jeeps and old Dodge trucks. I Just had my CJ-2A Jeep seats done. I had all material, Foam Vinal, etc. It cost me $250.00 , and even the guy said it was easy work. These days everone wants at least $100.00 a hour for some thing to be done. I wish I made $100.00 a hour
