Which is best for what? It depends on what you are building it for. Lowered?

Don't do it like they did on the home page. Under the cab is where you want the splice because the frames are the same width and height. Cut behind the transmission crossmember so you know that the engine mounts and crossmember will be the correct distance from each other. The only problem is that you have to make or modify the front cab mounts. You will also have to make brackets for the radiator support. The rear cab mounts stay in the same place and can be reused.

I don't really have any good pictures of the splice on my frame but Cageman might have some pictures of ones he did.

I just did this swap on my 62 Town Wagon, using front clip from a 75. It went fairly well once I gathered up the courage to make the first cuts! Hopefully it'll all work out,I have the 440/727 sitting in it now. I do have some pics,I'll try and load em up for you, don't know if they're good enough to help you out though. I'm also not sure if the Townie used the same frame as a pickup,I kinda think it is. I spliced mine in the bend part, not under the cab,so I maybe made it harder than it had to be,I don't know. I did away with the trans crossmember for the 4 speed, and moved the next crossmember ahead and bolted it back in for the 727 mount. Hope this helps
