Post by muddyoldman »

can anyone tell me what the correct turn signal lense is for a 1968? is it the pointed in the center lense or the more rounded lense?

pointed, with a slight round over on amber and very pointy clear ones.

Round, round would be 65-67

I thought the pointed clear ones were for overseas trucks or something, not standard in the US.

From what i understand all 68-69 trucks had the amber lens picture above, not clear.

Am i correct? If i am not, please set me straight.

Correct ,The clear are listed as export in the parts book.
I do find it strange that they are even listed in the Cdn/U.S. books.Same with the kilometer speedometers, why list something that is not even supposed to be used here.

since the parts books were used overseas also, many listing were included.
Clear lense can be used in US as long as you use a amber bulb 1175A.
The exception is in the 62 trucks and before, there the standard clear bulb with clear lens is OK, amber use started in 62 and later, before that all the color truck photos of that time will show clear lenses (many were clear glass pre 61).
Many cars and trucks up to today use a clear lens with amber bulbs.

Three lenses used 61 to 71
clear or amber round lens 61 to 67
clear or amber rectangal 68 and 69
clear rounded ends 70 and 71

68/69 are identical.

it looks like Amber is for State side trucks and Clear is for export.

The flat amber ones are the only ones I've seen on US trucks. The pointed amber ones I'm not sure where those come from.

Does it have a part number on it and a Mopar sign? Could it be aftermarket?

Also there was an Amber 70-71 lens.

i was at the junkyard last week and i pulled a pointed amber lens off of a 69 swepty. the lens had a 68 marking on it. Maybe it is a canadian thing. But i have a 68 dodge with the rounded lights and my other 69 dodge has rounded lights as well. :thinking
