Trim Piece between Buddy Bucket Seats and Gas Tank
Hello all,
I recently scored a great set of buddy bucket seats that I have since used to replace my bench seat in my 1971 Power Wagon. With the armrest folded down you're staring at the fuel tank. On trucks that were factory equipped with the buckets, was there a trim piece that went between the fuel tank and the seats to "dress it up" a bit?
Thanks!
Dan

It was a CARPET that was screwed in place. Here are pics of the carpet from my 1968 Adventurer. (Before and After)

OH.... and DON'T forget to add on the VELCRO strap that holds up the arm rest. you can see mine in the picture sticking up. I "believe" that your arm rest will already have the "other half" of the VELCRO sewn onto your seat/arm rest.

I don\t remember Velcro on the center for my 66 on original upholstery and never had a problem with it staying up when open.
My truck is younger than me.

Hmmm.... Now I have to admit, I haven't seen many "Original" Bucket Seats with the armrest, and I suppose it could be possible that the design had changed throughout the years too, yours being a 66 and mine a 68. But, I do know that mine is original with the velcro sewn into the armrest and was not a customization added to it. Well? anyone else with a bucket can add to this??dodgeboykim wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:41 am

Like I said , Don't remember a Velcro strip on center arm rest. When the seats were recovered in 1983 if it was there , Was not replaced and never had an issue in my truck.
My truck is younger than me.

Maybe owner installed cuz their particular seat was falling down. I don't recall ever seeing it on the half dozen seats Ive owned.

That seat wouldn't have originally been available in 1966, so whatever was found in a 66 should not be used to determine originality.

It's a factory "thing"... Here is a parts list for the Seat that shows the Velcro strips listed as a "strap" and you can see on the arm rest that it shows the sewn in part of the Velcro.

Re: Trim Piece between Buddy Bucket Seats and Gas Tank
The seat I rescued from the boneyard does have the velcro.
Thanks for all the great info. The driver seat has some material stripped away, but the rest of the seat is in great shape. I'm going to tape it up for the time being and have it redone in the future.
Still trying to decide whether or not I'm going to keep the truck white, or paint it medium green with a white top/bumpers. Whatever decision I make on the paint will drive what color I get the seat recovered in.

Re: Trim Piece between Buddy Bucket Seats and Gas Tank
See that I missed pointing out the Buddy Seat in my 66 came out of a 68 D100 I bought years ago for parts.
Wish that a Post delete option was available as I somehow double posted earlier.
