Havent bought from them, but just looking at them in comparison to others on EBay, they dont have the dimple for the cab mount bolt and do not appear to have all the right bends as factory. Those offered by seller Kennydrives look much better and closer to original.

Re: Motor City Sheet Metal?
I just got a driveside off ebay..It was like $75 to my door. ULTRA fast shipping if you need it.
It's NOT die -formed. It is handmade. maybe a little disappointing compared the stuff I've bought for Chevelle's and Mustang's but certainly serves a purpose. No pocket for the body mount and as you can see some really sharp bends where they should be soft. Shipped flat. You will have to fudge the up-kick in.
For a POS truck like mine....any better would almost be a waste.
My floor wasn't too bad so I'll trim the crap out of this one and just bond it to the original floor. I'll add a picture when I'm finished...maybe later this week or just after Christmas. I could never make one this nice for time and material @ $75.

They told me 18 gauge. Yes, I noticed some of the missing features too.surfnuke9 wrote:what guage steel is that made of? Doesnt look like 18 guage, which would be as the originals were.

Re: Motor City Sheet Metal?
mIne was 18 Gauge...here it is in, OVER the original floor.
Welded it at the rocker panel and used Panel sdfhesive elswere with TigerHair around the edges to seal it up. It will get a coat of F3 green where it visible.

All I will say is make sure NO ONE should repair a floor this way.

I agree Wally. That's no way close to a good long term repair.wally426ci wrote:All I will say is make sure NO ONE should repair a floor this way.

Re: Motor City Sheet Metal?
I'm very happy with my repair but you fellas can fix your trucks the way you like.
But did you look at what I was fixing? The original floor was 95% rust-free.
There were no structural issues. The cab mount was solid. Biggest hole was 1 inch by 3 inches. It had a patch the size of you hand pop riveted over it which I replaced with this panel. This floor repair will last as longer than the rest of the truck, which is forever. I have already fixed the front and rear glass leaks that caused the rust issue. The black paint on the original floor was POR 15 and I used Rustoleum Red Oxide on the floor patch.
Modern cars are glued together with panel adhesive in many spots, and I'll bet a paycheck that this old floor sandwiched together with the new floor with modern panel adhesive, will be as strong if not stronger than the original 18 Gauge floor.

I won't disagree with it being strong enough but you have sandwiched metal and that is a recipe for rust, IMHO. The main issue is it is not just an overlap joint but a quite large floor area where water will sit. Trust me, it WILL find its way in from either the top, bottom or side.

For MY application, the least of my worries will be the floor ever rusting out again.RussRoth wrote:I won't disagree with it being strong enough but you have sandwiched metal and that is a recipe for rust, IMHO. Re: Motor City Sheet Metal?
Well if you get 4-5 years out of it, and don't think you truck will last that long,
then getting any work done may be an improvement. I had a 67 Bronco
i did a similar job to when in my 20's (which was decades ago). Was
the best i knew how to do at the time. Afterwards I coated everything , top
and underside with a 1 gallon can of plastic roofing cement ($4 gal back then),
as cheap undercoating / sealant, put a floor covering back on top
and it stayed solid until I sold 5 years later.
So you may get some years from it if you seal the #$@#^ out of it.

Re: Motor City Sheet Metal?
I knew a guy who used roofing tar all the time. I couldn't get over two things...it never dried...I'd always get covered with it when I rolled around under the car and when he used it inside, I'm not sure the smell will ever go away.
I'll bet it took 30 years for the original floor to get pinholey..I'm thinking this new incarnation will last more than juust 5 years in the limited use this bomb will get..it ain't no space shuttle
