Hey guys I finally pulled up all the carpet on the dodge podge and found a few things, some good and some bad. I thought my front cab mounts were solid but they have some light perforation, they're not collapsed yet, but after clearing all the muck out, I can see daylight through my right one and the left isn't rusted all the way through yet. What I also found was the shop that took no less that 3 months to put bearings in my NP also decided that after taking the trans tunnel cover off they still didn't have enough clearance so they had to slice my floor and peel it back, yes peel it back, and hammer it back down somewhat straight when they were done. I didn't look under the carpet when I got it back from them but I know it wasn't like that when I brought it in. This further reinforces my thoughts that they didn't even pull the shifter to drop it. I saw it and was like "ARE YOU F***IN KIDDING ME?! So I think I shall go down there and get ugly which is something I reserve only for someone who has truly done something so unbelievably dishonest or with such a lack of respect for someone else or their property that I cannot to let it roll off my back.

Anywho, besides the damages mentioned, the floors just have light surface rust. What can I do to slow down the rust on the cab mounts? I can't pull the cab right now I just want to clean it up and stabilize it so I don't have daylight through the left one too. Any tips would be great as far as what what chemicals I may or may not need, what's good to prime the metal with etc. These are pretty nice floors so I don't want them to rust out anymore than what's started. Por-15 or some product that neutralizes rust will do the temporary job. Cab mounts are made of stamped plate steel so if you can see through it, its something to get on soon. I don't know if they are being repoped, but they would be fairly easy to fab up.
As for the floors I'd wire brush them and treat them with some type of zinc etching product. All this is shy of a full scale resto..

I've had good luck with Napa Auto's 'Rust Preventer'...it's a white bottle of liquid you brush on and it neutralizes rust, then I just paint over that after it's dry using Ace Hardware's 'Rust Stop' paint...POR-15 is freaking expensive and Ace's paint is the exact same thing, and I don't mean similar, it's the same thing...and don't complain too much about your floors and cab mounts, my passenger side mount fell off when I pulled the cab, and the driver's side is barely hanging on...everything around them is gone ;)...I'd post a pic, but they're too large to post here...

WOW- sounds incredibly barbaric as to what those clowns did to your floor! This is one of the main reasons we learn how to do it ourselves. I think you are right to make heads roll. You should post pic's and call them out for the damage. as for rust I have used zinc chromate primer with marvelous results .

Cab mounts you are talking about are the actual support that the cab sits on and that is connected to the frame - correct ? I have been looking for floor pan replacements and have found some but, they seem to be just beaded sheet metal that is roughly the same size and shape of the area. I did find a set from VPW that looked really nice - they had the indentation in the corners where your cab mount bolts go thru, like original. Problem is they never seem to have them

I had to post a pic of my driver-side floor. The entire floor of the crew cab looks like this. any advice for the welder (when I find one) from those of you that have been successful in fixing your floors?
