Windsheild sealent

Post by Boons »

Does/did anyone use sealant when they installed their new windsheild or just use the gasket itself?
Putting my front and rear glass in soon.

Also, I cant remember if I took my dash out with or without the windsheild in. You can put the dash back in with the windsheild in place, correct?

Its easier with the windshield out.

I used the 3M bead glazing compound between the frame and the gasket, nothing between the glass and gasket, but I still have a leak. :pale

You do not need any sealant. That tends to make a mess. Also, there is a tool you can get to put the lock strip in. They didn't use sealant from the factory and if the 'metal' is not bent or rusted out, you shouldn't need any sealant.

OR... if you want to make sure, have a glass company install it.

It is not as easy, but yes, you can install the dash
after the windshield goes in.
