A few pics of the cummins 71

I finally got around to getting pictures, been a busy week. I have put a few hundred miles on it already and the alternator was the only thing to give me fits, I dumped the idea of running the Nippendenso alt and put a 12si delco on there for now, I have to research what I was doing wrong with the n denso alt, that it didnt work.
I have some things to finish up yet, like the front bumper, Im making my own, a deer killer is what it is going to be called. I have to finish the air box and the battery mount, as they are both temp right now, hopefully this week Ill get to it.
It is getting 23 mpg right now, and I have towed with it. I like that.

here is the 70 I have been working on too, I took the closed knuckle axle out of it and am in the middle of putting the toyota power box on it, I also made my own steering arm, I cut the splines out of the toyota arm, and made my own arm out of 1 inch thick steel, My buddy is going to heat treat it for me, I just havent gotten it to him yet, I think it turned out good. After I get the box mounted I can bolt the newer front axle in the truck and move it again.

Here is a 68 box trailer I made years ago, the ol' imron paint still shines like a new penny too. I wish they made that paint still. It is loaded up with swepty parts. and B body parts and A body parts too.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Would also love to see more of that power stearing box swap. Spinel arthritis is starting to make it hard to park with one arm. would like to find an original unit for a 70 d100 if such a part was ever built. Cool DEISEL! :Thumbsup :Thumbsup :usa

What kind of fuel cell is that? Size? Brand? Etc.
And what kind of Rims/tires You got on the back?!? Those are awesome!!! Is that the original 200 rear axle?

Keep it coming on that Cummins truck, never enough info on that beast.

Oh, and hows that EX-race Bee coming?

American racing wheels, Mojave. 20 X 10's in the back 18 X 9.5 in the front, just havent bought the front tires yet.
Orig dana 60, 3.55, I havent mounted the disc brakes yet, or put the sure grip in either, Ill do that all at once, I pack the bearings then too, maybe a new pinion seal.
It has an intercooler, I guess it isnt easy to see. I also have the AC condensor in there too. Snug as a bug.
I made the fuel tank. 57 gallons, She stsrted life as a flat piece of steel, and I bent it up and welded it.
Imron isnt the same as the paint I used back in the day. That was some good stuff.
The race car has been hibernating all summer. Ill get to it yet this winter. I have been acquiring things for it, and it has been a good workbench, lots of square feet on that thing, But I do need to get it done, just to much playing with my Valiant, and my race car, and now my cummins.
I just pulled a wrecked 04 Ford 4 door, diesel 4 wheel drive 200 miles and it pulled like that ford wasnt even behind it, that was NICE.
The not so nice part was the heater sucks, and so does the door seals, and I have a draft coming from somewhere. I think the fuse box area. Brrr, it was 0 degrees this morning, and it is 5 degrees now, I just got home. Im a little chi chi chilly.
I made a sweet aluminum air filter box and an aluminum battery box. I also made a cup holder for the floor, that will get used Im sure.
I think my MPG went down a bit with this winter blend fuel Im running.

there aint much room in there but it would be nice to have.do you think my '66 d200 would handle it?

That is very cool! I have been dreaming of doing that to my 65. Looks like a tight fit to the firewall.They just dont get any tougher than a dodge!

Congrats on your Swepty Cummins repower! I would LOVE to do that on my 66 W300. I could not do this myself. I contacted Charles at M-Series Rebuild at http://www.mseriesrebuild.com but they have a 2-3 year wait. They haven't done a Swepty conversion yet but are willing to do it. I have to think about that waiting though! I wish I knew of a company that could do this for my 66 W300 sooner. Any leads? :thinking

THAT IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!! I keep talking about doing that when I get a few more $$$$$$$$ What made you choose the earlier 5.9? Just curious...... That is one hell of a sleeper..... great job!!!
