Not a Challenger but I had a fully modded Magnum that I sold to start working on a D100

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
Just heading to Seattle to pick mine up tomorrow. Hemi Orange, 340, 4 speed, 1970. I had a panther pink one for just about 20 years, original 383 car but I ran it with a Hemi.

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
I got mine home. It's a matching #s 340, 4 speed, date coded everything. I am however putting the trainer engine stuff in storage, it's getting the 572 Stage V Hemi I've been putting together over the past few years and most likely a 3.54 D60.

Love your 71 Wally. I had a 71 R/T, 383, 4 speed, B5 with a black vinyl back in the 70's. It rusted away to nothing but was a great car when it was new I bet.

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
Thanks man. I know that I went the B5 route that people love or hate. I really love the color, but I toy with going EF8 or back to the original GF7 - but I can't quite get into the 71 color. I may go Black as well.....
Car has some great options:
Power Windows, Console cassette, Leather seats, 6way driver, most of the trim offered that year, A78 Formal Roof which translates close to the 70 SE model options with the overhead console and small back window, rallye gauges, A/C - that I want to re-install. It was an International Export car, so maybe a military member ordered it while away? I'd love to learn more about the history, but I need to get back in touch with the previous owner.
It was a 318/904 car that I put a stroked 360 in with 727.
I have learned a lot along the way so I really want to break it back down and get some new pieces of sheet metal and then take my time putting it back together.
I hope you don't mind more pictures. Not trying to steal the thread.

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
Wow: Great options indeed, I didn't notice the limo window. Really neat car. I don't know how many 71's had the small window but it wasn't many, I like it in the B5 just fine.

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
Thanks man! I've read 229 but I don't believe you could track single options so not sure where that number originated.

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
A lot of Vets had cars waiting for them in San Francisco when they came back from Vietnam. My buddy got a radio and carpet delete '68 GTX 440-6, 4.10s, no heater. He downshifted to 3rd on the San Francisco Bay Bridge and the pistol grip shifter came off in his hand. He turned around and drove it back to the dealer in SF in 3rd gear. Damn 6-paks burned up the center carb real often.wally426ci wrote:Thanks man. I know that I went the B5 route that people love or hate. Re: Who else has a Challanger?
That GTX had to be a 70...there was no 6 bbl or pistol grip available on a GTX until 1970. It could have been a 69 lift off hood A12 roadrunner, but still no pistol grip!

Re: Who else has a Challanger?
You're right because I was a junior in high school when I worked with him and he had just gotten back, it was '70. Things getting harder to remember now days.....wonder why?....what was the question again? It was a regular hood. One fast car. He used to love to whip my @#% with my Challenger on a strait out drag run.B5ALIVE wrote:That GTX had to be a 70...there was no 6 bbl or pistol grip available on a GTX until 1970.
