Name that Part!!!
Re: Name that Part!!!
Keith can do a search on that number. I'm sure there are some still on the shelf. If Keith can't find one/two, let me know and I'll get with my NOS vendor i deal with.

1 - What year parts book?calmauzy wrote:Parts book shows it as a PVC valve grommet
2 - This part is a very soft squissy rubber, and would not work well in a high temp app...
and the single black wire...s/b a big clue
BUT!...the search engine I used shows PCV grommet...
However...that is not the answer we are looking for...sorry.

I think you are right on the antenna...but I can't find mine...slick wrote:Antenna grommet? Rear cab light grommet? Spotlight grommet?
I do not know about the rear cab or the spotlight...you may have something there.
However...that is not the application of the grommet pictured...
single small black wire...BIG HINT
Another BIG HINT...I need this grommet, because I just got my rear bumper rechromed, and found that I am missing this grommet, as I am putting the bumper assembly back together,
and installing it on my truck.....
One application for 2426712...Speedometer through firewall...but that is also not the one I have pictured...

through grommet installed in bed (under Tail gate)...to harness.
Thanks for participating in this installment of "Name That Part!"
and helping me find more places to look for this grommet.
"This grommet is used in early 60's firewall applications, hood release and radio antenna. Possible choke including truck."
says my friend Rick who just chimed in with that info...
Max Wedge part here for sure...

How is the wiring routed? I have mine dangling under the bumper because I couldn't figure out the routing.

This grommet goes in a hole in the extreme rear of the bed. It is on a ground facing surface, under the tail gate.robertob wrote:How is the wiring routed? I have mine dangling under the bumper because I couldn't figure out the routing.
Your wire goes from the lamp, through the grommet, and is plugged into the harness, which s/b just inside the hole...the plug may be 12 inches to the passenger side...
the harness is then kept by several restraints built into the under side of the bed. As soon as i get mine together, I can get some photos uploaded.
Re: Name that Part!!!
Just going off what MyMopar.com part number search came back for part number 2426712, it described it as a “grommet PCV valve”. Thanks for calling me out John on transposing the letters, I think that we all know that I meant PCV. Anyway it was fun to find out just what this part was. Thanks, lets do it again sometime.

Re: Name that Part!!!
Yes that is what is says...if it was indeed a pcv grommet...my guess is that it may have been a pcv grommet early on, but was obviously replaced with a higher density rubber...calmauzy wrote:Just going off what MyMopar.com part number search came back for part number 2426712, it described it as a “grommet PCV valve”. and this grommet was still used in other applications...maybe they were trying to multi task :)
also, this grommet is too big for the valve covers I have...
anyone know if early 60's valve covers have a larger PCV hole??????
Re: Name that Part!!!
same as an a body, like a duster for the lp light.
