thanks for the comments guys..im trying to find good chrome front and rear bumpers, to offset the "cartoonish" look to it right now...

oh yeah the paint is 2009 chrysler inferno red

mods include:
disc brake up front
converted to power steering
converted to floor shift
custom sun roof
running boards
custom full headliner
custom door panels

the truck is great...i can weld the hood shut and leave it alone for a few years and not worry about it :dance gotta love dodge :clap

its a very early production 72, and the tag has a 71 production date, and is titled as a 71..i flip flop about wether to call it a 71 or 72...i know its actually a 72, but we've always called it the 71

Looks great! :Thumbsup I love those old-school wheels, and the overall old-school look it has. If it were mine I think I'd lose the running boards in favor of functional side pipes. :thinking Or another idea would be to get some black conveyor belt material and use it to make the old-school looking front air dam and side skirts. :thinking :study The color is awesome. :clap And touch-up paint will be relatively easy to find for a while since it's a modern color.

So you had to swap to disc brakes? In 73, they were standard, and never again had drums up front, AFAIK.

my 74 w200 came factory equipped with locking hubs and drums. the last time i had to replace one (early 90's) it was quite an adventure(r) finding one.

Thanks for the tips :Thumbsup

i actually use the running boards when I wash the truck. It makes it easier to wash the roof, and clean the sunroof..If you look at the picture of the rear, you can see one pipe, but there is another one on the other side...straight pipes all the way back sound REALLY REALLY nice

more details about the conveyor belt air dam/side skirts :thinking :study

the color took a while to decide on...kinda....we went "shopping" at car dealers...nothing like rolling up in a showroom condition 1990 corvette just to look at the different reds on the lot  It was a tie between the mustang red and the chrysler red....im happy with the outcome :dance

and yeah...we had to convert to discs...it was one of the first 72's on the market, and even had a 3 on the tree...still havent found another one like it...only heard of others with three on the tree

it was hella easy though..on the drivers, we swapped by unbolting them, instead of poppin off the upper/lower balljoints..MUCH easier for a 12 year old to hit away at the picklefork then unbolt stuff HAHAHA

here is a crappy pic of the door panel...was supposed to be diamond tuck and roll, but the 2" squares looked way better IMHO

Does it have shoulder belts? All trucks manufactured after 1/1/72 were required to have them and since your truck was built before that it wasn't required to have them. Not many Lifestyle era trucks came without them.

no it did not have shoulder belts....i think it had only lap belts when we got it.....we did however put in safety belts from a lincoln MKIV, which include a lap, and shoulder belt combo, and can be worn with or without the shoulder belt attatched..its a pain in the arse, but a VERY worthwhile safety upgrade....

Nice truck, Kevin. :Thumbsup
You have no mufflers? Are the pipes straddling the spare tire, or is it in the bed?
I'd like to have pipes all the way back, but dunno yet if the 4 link is gonna block them.
How did you get the idea for lincoln seat belts, and can you show how you did the shldr. anchors?
Thanks

thanks for the compliments jeff :Thumbsup

I have mufflers now, but they're in front of the axle.

With the pipes running where they are, I can't have my spare there. Im running without a spare for the time being, until I find a way to secure the leather (thinking of using L brackets, and putting plywood under the leather, that way noone can rip the leather and steal the stuff underneath)

as for the lincoln seatbelts, we have a 73 lincoln with the same belts, and I like that I can undo only the shoulder belt, and leave the lap belt attatched (if reaching for the glovebox, or something that fell on the floor)

the shoulder mount was easy. My grampa drilled a hole about where the one is on the drivers side, and put a nut/washer/bolt on it. I don't know how he reached the back, but if there is a will there is a way (this was the passenger side. I know the driver side had a hole already drilled/tapped for a shoulder belt) The pic is of the drivers side, both the shoulder and floor mounting

thank you :Thumbsup

as far as being finished...mostly, yes...there are a few things I want/need to do, but the major stuff is done.

eventual stuff to do:

either swap to a 4 speed, or an auto...if I go auto, I wont have to rebuild the Z bar, but I kinda like the basic feel of the truck with the 318/3 speed

pull the front grill and straighten it better, as there are a few dings

new windshield from a 76-newer so I can have the review mirror on the glass. Im thinking of building an overhead console the spans the width of the roof, so I can have a place for the 6x9's I just got

put a rear roll pan on with a hidden hitch....

basically minor stuff...

as for the 63, Im still debating/hesitating on the floor pans and cowl on the 63 cab. I was going to buy a cab off of a member here, then got talked into the "We can fix that no problem. It will be done in a week" and Im still waiting :banghead

im going to patch the cowl the best I can, and epoxy it, so that I can put the dash in, and throw it all together, starting this spring around may.

I still have to have the springs redone, find a rear end (changed my mind about the ford 9"), put the frame back together....basically my truck has been a frame for a couple of years :banghead

Not to mention the 413 still needs to be finished...I think I can have the truck finished in a month...if I don't sleep
