New CD player & Speakers

Just finished installing a Pioneer DEH 3100 CD player, Pioneer 6.5" 2way front and, cl special rear 6x9's. I built a plate to bolt to the dash and slide the mounting chassis in for the CD player. Cut holes in the doors and carpet lowers to mount front speakers. The rear speakers I found on Craigs list with boxes, they sit perfectly under the rear seat.

I picked the Pioneer 3100CD player for several reasons, it was only $130.00 at Walmart, it has a remote, detachable face plate, A USB port for plugging in a thumb drive or controlling a Ipod, and a jack for using a MP3 player. It also has a simple look so it doesn't take away from a 40 year old truck.

The front Pioneer 6.5" two way speakers were $40.00 at Walmart. I bought them because they were cheap, turns out they sound very nice. I was going to use them to get me buy until I bought something nicer but they are great. They also have a full front grill, seems that most new speakers have grills that wouldn't protect anything.

I paid $20.00 for the rears W/boxes. They will work until I buy nicer ones. I don't really care for the way they sound.

Speaker wire was also from Walmart. $10.00

For $200.00 bucks the system is awesome.

Sorry I haven't vacumed my truck yet.

The pictures are washed out because the rain just stopped and the sun came out, my truck is parked in front of a white garage door.

LOOKS PRETTY GOOD, IM LOVIN THE MILITARY GREY INTERIOR. LOOKS GOOD, BUT SIMPLE. ID THROW SOME DYNA MATT IN THOSE DOORS AND THE SPEAKERS WILL SOUND EVEN BETTER. ALSO, BE SURE YOUR WEATHER STRIPPING IS IN GOOD SHAPE, OR THE FIRST TIME WATER GETS IN THAT DOOR YOUR SPEAKERS ARE SHOT.

Thanks,
The interior color is actually a chrysler interior color. Its simi gloss single stage, I picked that grey because it matches my seats.

All the weather stripping is new.

I sprade the inside of the doors skins with rubber under coating before I painted the truck.

I also sprayed the back side of the door panels with bomb can under coating.

Thanks

I picked up a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB head unit on clearance at Wal-Mart last year for my crew.
It is really cool, it has a remote cable for the USB, which I am going to route to the glove box.
Being able to use thumb drives was critical. Can keep all the kids music separate from mine.

I have the same wide dash bezel you have, that I would like to use. I have been struggling with
how to make it work and just recently settled that the only way was going to cut it like you did.
I don't want to cut it, but that is the only way it will work. So for now I have just been using
a narrow bezel, till I get the nerve to do it. I still need to cut the metal A/C radio bezel to mount
the radio also.

I am still leery of mounting speakers in the door, but yours look real nice. You might consider
siliconing some plastic sheeting to the inside of the door to cover the back of the speaker?

Carpet on the doors looks good! Has the same feel as the vinyl map pockets on my 71 Adventurer SE.

I hated to cut the doors, but with out a bunch of fab work, I didn't see any other way. I saw someone build kickpanel boxes that were awesome, but way over my head. I hated to cut my panel to, but I figure my truck is so far from stock anyway or ever being original, what the heck.

Jimmy it looks like you have a nice system there. I also cut my doors for my speakers. I put two amps and a 12" subwoofer behind the seat and put the 61/2" speakers in the door, with the tweeters up in the corners of the dash. I had to cut the AM plate to make room for the Alpine CDE-102 deck.

Nice Work, I'm thinking about 6.5 seperates and a 12" sub also.
