Now I'm Really Pumped !

Post by cudaboy »

I went to look at some cloth this guy had for sale Friday. When I get there, I see that he's got all kinds of old stuff there, bit the first thing I saw was this pump.I've been wanting one for 15 to 20 yrs, but they are either too pricey when restored (about $2500) or not for sale. He never would tell me what he'd take for it, so I offered him a price. He said he'd take $15 over what I offered if he didnt have to help load it. SOLD !!!! :dance

I thought them old pumps were cool. If your like me gives you something else to work on. ( I don't know if too many unfinished projects are good or bad?) Let see it when it's done.

This one SUPPOSEDLY was still working. Of course it doesnt matter, because I'm going to remove the pump and electric motor. I was last in use at a trucking company that's just a few miles from my house. The date on the tag is 11-55. Man, they make everything to restore these pumps. About 12 yrs ago a had an original globe that was plain white glass w/ REGULAR hand painted on it. Somebody offered me $50 for it and it found a new home. Like the song says, " I wish I had that one back".
I've seen these turned into liquer cabinets, stereos installed in them, etc. Not sure what I'll make of it. I've got half of my basement that I'm turning into a bar/ entertainment room. So I'm sure that's where it'll end up.

That's cool man. I don't think I'd even restore it though!

Natural patina is like virginity. Once its gone you cant get it back.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

I like that one too ! If mine still had the faded paint on it, I might leave it alone. The guy I got it from has scraped the paint off, which was causing it to start to surface rust, I started taking it apart when I got home last night. I plan to have the panels soda blasted. Then I'm going to have to decide what paint/gas company design to use.
