"Give me 40 acres, and I'll turn this truck around"... (Anyone else here remember that song?)
Interesting concept,... poorly executed. I'm looking forward to see the destruction/reconstruction picts. I'm almost scared to know what kind of barnyard engineering (butchery) went into that one.
Nice looking Fargo there, good save!

Thanks for the responses guys. The wife says I have to stop at the first landfill and ditch the trailer on the way home. At least she can see past the trailer. I showed her some pictures of a finished one and she likes it. I've found some old Ford one ton wheels to get the old girl home. As is it's a little too hillbilly for me, but it should be nice when I'm done. The vin is E31BE05140696. Could someone help me decode it? The first number one may be an L.....not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Plans include shortening the wheel base and finding a bed. I've been looking at 19.5 inch wheels but they're pretty expensive. If I get the big wheels with the heavy rubber, I'll need good brakes so possibly discs. I have a 12 valve Cummins sitting here begging for attention. Other than that just drive it. I'm sure it will be a couple years before it's done.
PS I'm from Canada.
Thanks again and good hearing from you.

E31BE05140696
E3-W300
1-Conventional Cab; Compact Cab & Express; Standard Heavy Duty Tilt (This doesn't seem correct for a crew cab)
B-6,001 lbs to 10,000 lbs GVW
E-LA 318-1
0-1970 model year
5-(could it be an S)
Assembly Plant Index
J Canadian Built
N Burt Road (KDX)
S Warren Truck #1 (Incl. Compacts - `70)
T Warren Truck #2 (Heavy Duty)
U Missouri Truck
V Warren Truck Compact - `71
140696-40,695th truck built in 1970
Also on the tag where you got this number it should have the original wheelbase listed. That might help determine if it had any kind of bed on it.
