Old flatbed off, it was heavy!

I measured before and after right in front of the driver side spring perch and with the weight off, the frame came up 2 3/8". :Thumbsup

here is a stock 61 before i restored it. under the rear bed mounting bolts i used a piece of box tubing as a cross member. i didnt like that stock only had spacer at the rear and wanted the extra strength

Thank you!

I searched and searched for something stronger, rust resistant and economical.

I found galvanized 2" perforated box tube (street sign posts) at Granger. Three 10 footers will make my stringers, just over 200 bucks with tax and I was able to pick them up at a local store. :-)

Not quite done yet..... but gently working the worst of the kink out of this D300 cab step only took about an hour. :-)

I made an early morning raid below the Mason -Dixon line for a parts truck.

Zero play in the door hinges! :dance

Lots of other parts I can use too. :-)

The '68 parts truck was originally a /6 3-on-the-tree.

It was swapped to a 4-speed with a 1971 318 at some point though, floor hump and all.

Tow rig has the Cummins with a 5-speed.

hard to beat the cummins set up. I have a 361 powered D300 that drives like a diesel but does NOT get the same mileage! 10 if Im lucky. I am going to put an AFB on it and an O2 sensor tuning set up. I know another guy who has done it on his 361 trucks and can squeeze 15 mpg out of them

Virginia last weekend, Wildwood NJ this weekend, a guy had a set of seven 1st Gen. dually wheels for 200 bucks in great shape, so now I have coined duallies for the '70 and can ditch the split rims. 9 hours of driving, but that search is over! :-)

With the Cummins towing a load in 4th, I get about 15mpg. (Overdrive use not recommended when towing)

Put;

Firestone Destination M/T

Into the search engine of your choice & the specs will be there, depending on what size of course.

I wanted something with side lugs reminiscent of vintage truck tires.

My local tire shop gave me a better price than I could find online just for the tires and they included new valve stems, mounting and balancing. :Thumbsup

They are stud-able also, so I may get another set for the '90 before next winter hits. :thinking

We need music, from 'Mission Impossible' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGSUjuSBt1A

Your mission, sixpak340, should you choose/decide to accept it, is to locate the D300 Unobtainium and obtain it.....

Mission accomplished! :dance :clap :clap :dance

Nice!
Did you also get the little filler flanges that hang down off the cab at the front of the steps?

Fall colors from 80 feet up in the air, some of the leaves match the 1970 D300 below.

Limb at upper left was hanging over my shop, it topped out at around 95 feet, but it is safely on the ground now. :-)
