I will have to find out if the frame was shortened at all at the rear to put the short bed on. I get what you are asking

I will look when I get the original bed off the ground how it attached at the rear. You would think it would need some kind of frame extension between the truck frame and bumper.

Yeah. The back of the bed would bend if you put something heavy in it without any kind of support.
