The reason they tend to burn is a lack of maintenance. If you replace the rubber section of the fuel line that goes across the engine on a yearly basis, you never have to worry. I love ACVW's as well. I miss my Baja, and someday I'll build another. But I've never had one burn on me, and nobody else I know has either.

Ford had a similar problem in the 70's as they decided to run the rubber fuel line right past the distributor cap. :shame I've seen alot of those smoking on the shoulder. :pale

That's the reason nearly ANY car will burn, not just VWs.
