Pistol/firearms question

Post by Jims68 »

OK, while the subject of guns has come up in another post... I have a question for some of you handgun owners. Anyone here have a "Pistol guide"? OR Handgun owners bible? OR something like that... I have an OLD "Western Six" 22 cal. Kimel Ind. I would like some info in it, such as... how many were made, years they were made, popularity, any good? Although, I cannot shoot it, because, The problems I have are, the cyl. falls out of it. I need the "pin" that holds the cyl into the frame. I DO have the lock screw that keeps the pin from falling out. PLUS, I need the screw that holds the two sides of the grips onto the frame. Right now, the grips are held onto it with tape :pale and one small screw for the trigger gaurd. I don't really care to make it useable, but that would be OK too, I just wanted to "fix 'er up". I had it given to me several years ago by a friend that has passed away.

So, where can I get the parts that I need?

Looked up Kimel industries in my GUN VALUES book..No listings for a single action .22
mfg by AA Arms in Monroe,NC and prior to that by Kimel Industries, Inc in Matthews,NC.

Tom, I will go to the library to look for that book. I don't want to buy it... I went to the site you recommended, and I DID Find this. Looks like my gun, other than a couple of small differences... but they say the schematic is only a reference, and that it may not match exactly. However, it does show the parts I need. :Thumbsup

#16, Pin for CYL. #10 and #11, Screw and nut for grips, #27 screw for trigger gaurd.

AA Arms bought out Kimel in the 1990's. Since both are in NC you might be able to find them in a yellow pages online search.

The Blue Book of Gun Values is where I got the info on AA Arms.
The book runs around $40 last time I looked [mine is 4 years old]. It doesn't list your .22
Lots of weapons sold with a Sears or Montgomery Ward brand were actually produced by somebody else.
Just like a lot of other things it can take a lot of research to track some things down.
