Re: Grandpa's 63' W100
Looks a lot like a long bed to me! Maybe grandpa did a frame stretch so he could install a long bed? Either that or the original bed/frame suffered severe damage and the cab/engine/etc. got transferred over to a decent later frame. The VIN number on the frame should be stamped somewhere on the outside of the frame, in the vicinity of the passenger side shock mount (up front over the axle). Might be able to find it and see if it matches the cab VIN. Otherwise, you might look for signs of the frame being stretched- i.e. cuts/welds on the frame right behind the cab

Well I did some snooping around and saw what looked like a weld mark.
Looks like we have a Frankenstein truck on our hands. Original frame must have been cut and the back of a long bed frame was spliced in place. I got a picture, I'll post it up shortly.

Yep....
Your truck's wheelbase has been stretched out to ~128".

Yeah. i kinda got suspicious when i saw the newer looking drivehsaft, and the sticker of a custom driveshaft shop.
I just need to get it running now, the wiring got messed up by our dogs while trying to find a squirrel. Is there any kind of wiring diagram available for these trucks? Or should we resort to a kit from Ron Francis?

Here's a schematic.
I believe Bud Thorp has a '63 W100 for sale whole or to
part out. He might be able to help you out with a harness.
Put up an ad in the Parts Wanted section and see what you
can find.

Thanks! Once it gets running I'll be glad to meet up. We might need to get it registered first though, as the last date on the sticker says 2008.petee33333 wrote:Great truck! good to see another ABQ swepty! Would love to see it in person some time when you get it running!

Wow thats cool to see the work done to fit the longer wheelbase bed . Wonder when the work was done...neat part of the trucks history.
I always thought it was no coincidence that in 65 Dodge lengthened the trucks wheelbase moving the wheelwell back on the sweptline sheetmetal as well doing just the opposite to the 65 Coronet creating the altered wheelbase "Funny cars". I would bet that the same people were involved in both alterations. When you look at a 61-early 65 lwb it looks kinda "funny" compared to the later bed.[attachment=0]183119_1659655009805_7626922_n.jpg[/attachment

What about the C on the left side?
maybe "caution" like emergency lights. my 66 has a dedicated knob just above light switch that says emergency flasher.
