Picked up another 66
Picked up another 66
Picked up a 66 rolling chassis. The cab/front end on this truck are perfect but it has no bed. I plan on using my other 66 as a parts truck to complete this one. This truck had a 392 hemi in it but the last guy bought the truck to take the motor and put it in his 34 Plymouth. The original owner cut the motor mounts out and raised to front end about 3" to fit the hemi. The original owner also put the 70/71 grill on which I will be swapping out for a chrome pie plate grill I recently picked up. Now I just have to decide on a powertrain for this thing. I was originally thinking about putting in a poly but now I'm leaning towards a 383 or 440. Any opinions appreciated.

Nice chassis-cab! You've got to put on a Utiline bed with that set of wheels. Put in whatever you can find the easiest for your engine/trans. Big blocks are easier to work on than small blocks (at least for me).

good grab! I've been eyeballing that thing on craigslist. It appeared somewhat butchered, but it was hard to tell...

Good score! I'm digging that Fury too.

Thanks! I'll have to give that Utiline bed some thought but I've always been partial to the swept sides. I was going to take the bed off my other 66 and part out the rest but I'm thinking about keeping them both. My wife might have something to say about that though because I have the 68 Fury as well.
Slick - it was definately a pieced together truck. The vin has the truck as a 66 but the ID plate says it was a long bed, /6 with 3 on the tree. The cab was swapped to a shorty frame, the bed was ditched or non exsistant and a home made flat bed was installed. The fenders are from a 68 I think because of the reflectors. The grill is 70/71, the seats are high backs from a duster and the steering wheel has a plymouth emblem, likely from the same duster. The good is there is no rush on the cab, not even the cab mounts and the fenders are great too. It also has a sure grip with 4:10's. The biggest draw back was not having a bed and the hood that is in perfect condition has a big hole cut out of it from the hemi. I have an extra hood that will be donating the middle to patch this one.
