We had a neighbor in the early 70's ...72-74 with a silver 69-71 Sweptline Utiline that had Cragars and side pipes...In 74 he bought a new 360 powered Barracuda with the Rallye package.....and quickly added Cragars and sidepipes...Needless to say this wore off on me a little......

Could you fab up sheet metal as a step, as there will be a hole in it
for the pipe anyway ? Ya keep the original step just in case.

Those Keystones do look great! The side pipes look really cool on there. I really like how the truck sits. Great work!

NO on the sidepipes as you have them! Run them like a LRE through the steps.

*Update*5-23-11

Post by oklamopar »

Well after church the wife need to lay down. so i mowed the yard and sanded and painted a decent front bumper. i found it at my moms hose in my parts stash.
Image

and then got another wildhair. since the bed floor needs to be replaced, i decided to try the pipes vertical. made brackets and hooked them up. Again i'm not sure.

Of the two I prefer the stacks. Was never fond of what we used to call "lake pipes", I'm assuming that was because of the early day dry lake speed racers. Anyway, it's your truck. Whatever floats your boat.  Mike

Stick with side pipes. Everyone and his brother is putting stacks on again, at least late model diesels and big blocks around here.

Ditto
If your going to put stacks on you better put a big "TAPOUT" sticker arcoss your back window and get yourself a flat bill hat to top it off.

Flappers are getting wimpy. Factories are using really thin metal, the flap bolt tears through. Or the too small flapper bolt breaks. John Deere has decent ones, but they cost 10x what they should. And they still don't last very long. Put one on a 3020 diesel a month and a half ago, have already had to "modify" it back into shape with a 5# hammer and anvil...
