Mine does duty for work and play here in Montana. Some days getting firewood, some days hauling the fourwheeler to the hills for fun. Some days just driving because I like the ole truck.

flat towed 4.5hrs to get home
after weighing out of the dump, the ticket said i dumped 3850lbs of waste. could explain why i had trouble stopping..lol
wish i could find the rest of my pics, my long crew got its butt worked off.

I dont have any pics of the old 'wagon doin her thing but she gets used a lot. She does every thing from drive an 80 mile round trip to work several times a week (with 4.88 gears!) and hauling duties for my home (about 15 over the top of the cab loads of timber, countless loads of trash, rocks, lumber....) And she will do it all with a smile and 100% reliability so as long as you keep it down around 55 ;) I cant be happier with it, now I just need to give her some of the TLC she deserves!

Winching my buddy out of a canyon at Hollister Hills Off Road Park. Fan went through the radiator...

buying it from Frank was the 4:88 gears. I have that
same ratio in my '68 W200 so I opted for another W200
that was available locally. Your '69 is very clean and it
has a lot of work put into the drive line.

It was truly a "ready for work" purchase.

hard to tell but it seems like maybe your cable is running over the top of the spool? I have never had a wnch equipped Swepty but many of the WC and FFW winch trucks and the cable always comes out from the bottom on those. it puts less downward stress on the front frame rail when winching yourslef or anyone else at an angle like that where the weight is below the centerline of your frame. I saw a the same thing on a big REO from the 40s and they had the cable spooled the wrong way on that one and same deal fan into radiator wiching a big tree out of a ravine.PowerMan wrote:

The way the winches are installed in the Sweptlines doesn't really allow you to run the cable off the underside of the winch. If the cable was run on the underside you would have 4 speeds to unwind rather than 4 speeds to wind in.

That sure looks nice! I would still change it to under if I had one... Reverse is a lower gear than 1st so would give more pulling capacity anyway.

Yeah, it'd make it impossible to have the winch help you pull yourself out though- to have the truck in 1st or 2nd would mean the cable is spooling out as you're trying to drive out. You'd probably have a few people shaking their heads

Just had to add a few older pics of my “working” truck to this post. I was clearing land for a building, and hauling green pines to the dump. I could feel the truck was loaded by the braking but she hauled it with no issue. Weighed in at the dump with over a 1.25 ton payload! I didn’t get the weight of the oak stump, but it took a backhoe and tractor with front loader to get it in the truck. These old trucks were made to work!
The old girl is pretty much made up of parts of trucks I’ve had over the years, and now looks totally different with a 66 cab and 69 bed. It was a 3 speed at the time, but how has a 435 in it. I’ve got a freshly overhauled /6 that I had hoped to install over the holidays. The D200, W200, work and family all seem to be competing for my time these days, and unfortunately the trucks don’t come out on top!

My 70 D100 loaded down with 93 Buick Roadmaster Wagon parts and a fridge. Along with other things headed to the scrapyard, and loaded down with my 07 Yamaha Grizzly 700 FI EPS
