New member bought a 68 d 200
Love the site. Been lookin for parts etc. Bought this from the Son-in-law of the original owner. Had 66000 original miles and 2000 on rebuilt trans. Has been a blast to work on and given my eldest and i an opportunity to bond while workin.

That is awesome, my truck is a 1968 D100 that has been in my family since new, 62,000 miles on her. Your truck is in really great shape, I wonder what those extra front bumper guards came off of?

Re: New member bought a 68 d 200
I have no idea about the chrome things but they do look odd. This is a one family rig. My buddys father in law bought it from his father in law who was the original owner. 67,000 original miles and 2,000on a rebuilt trans. I got it for 500.00 and other than tires im into it for about 1200 total including tax title license etc. Put some real good rubber on it and after the carb rebuild it started right off. only has one issue that i will fix shortly. Where the seat brackets sit on the floor it has cracked the pan. I will clean the underside and throw a weld on it from underneath and call it good.

Nice 68! I think you made a great deal on your truck. I remember back in the 70's and 80's you could go to PEP BOYS and buy universal bumper guards. They were the "thing" back then and everyone did it. Well... not everyone, but they were very popular. I see in your pics you have a trailer brake unit and it looks like the electronic type. Those are great to have if you ever tow a trailer with it. Ohh..... and an oil pressure gauge too... I got to like that. The rocker panels are in great shape!! Your lucky! I see new spark plug wires, gas filter, fan belt and clean carb
Is that a fire bottle on your right side kick panel? All in all... you got a killer deal and great truck! Just so you know... that body tag under the hood is NOT a paint code. It seems no one has really figured out what they mean. But, I can assure you it is not a paint number.
If you haven't figured it out.... I also own a 68!

Yes... I forgot; I was going to mention the radio too... Also by the placement of it, you can tell it was factory installed too. Mine was dealer installed and is down lower on the dash.wally426ci wrote:Great deal!!

Re: New member bought a 68 d 200
Thanks Guys i appreciate the nice comments. im very glad to have picked it up for a decent price. It had sat for 6 years due to the carb but other than that the gent who had it is a big maintenance type. Yes that is a fire bottle on the passenger side. Thought it was kinda cool but have no idea how to use it. Was it pressurized or what? the lid screws off for refill i suppose but far as i can tell it works. I know the vehicle was garaged for at least the first 20 years so the body damage was controlled. I have seen the rig sitting for years up in the field and wanted it since i first saw it in about 2002. few minor things i want to fix but its a runner for sure.
