Hello, all...

I toasted yet ANOTHER fuel gauge a little while back. Got the new gauge hooked up (Thanks, Butch), but my temp gauge was not hooked up because it was broken (or so I thought). Gauge worked for all of 5 minutes before it went south and stayed there. Question: Did I screw it up by running the fuel gauge without the temp gauge hooked up? There are multiple threads regarding the operation of the gauges, but it's somewhat confusing to me at this point. As of now all of the gauges work except the fuel gauge and I'm sick of running out of gas.

There is the little voltage regulator on the back of the cluster. That isn't letting too much voltage through is it? Just a shot in the dark.

The voltage regulator is inside the Fuel Gauge. If the temperature gauge works, the regulator is OK and it's time to check your wiring to the tank and the sending unit.

Install an aftermarket one.One terminal goes to power,another to ground and the other to the sending unit.You also would need an aftermarket sending unit,wont work with original dodge sending unit.I have found them easier to install,they do work well.

I ended up just using mechanical temperature and oil pressure gauges,simpler.Less wiring ,less headaches.

All my gages are pretty much shot in my 63', so I'm gonna look at retro fitting some after market gages into the stock cluster.

I already have a 3 pod gage attached under the dash for Oil, Volt, and Temp. Anyone have any input on after market gages? Specificly fuel gage and sender since I am hating not having a fuel gage and relying on the 5 gal jerry can in the bed for my JIC situations.

Are all senders compatible with our "in the cab" vertical style tanks? Anyone done this? Pics?
