Off the scale amp gauge?

Can any one tell me why my 64 blinks? When you get the truck over an idle all lights start to blink.( headlights,tail lights, dash lights) At an idle everthing is fine, give a little gas and lights blink and amp gauge goes along with the blink. I can,t say it does it going down the road, I've never driven it. It sat 5 yrs. and needs clutch and brakes?

One word= GROUNDS
start at all your main grounds at battery,
engine and fire wall, clean and/or replace
all cables...
Most of the time the above will solve it...

If that does not help, look for
shorts or a battery with a dead cell....
