I have a 69 D-100 Custom that has an original AC setup that I'd like to replace with a simple heater box. Does the dash absolutely have to be removed to get the AC unit out? I checked and was only able to see one bolt that attaches the unit to lower edge of the front of the dash. Is everything else attached to the firewall?
Thanks,
Glenn

Yes there are about 4-6 nut on the fire wall that need to come off along with the support bracket(s) on the inside of the truck. It's a bit painful to get out.gwilson09 wrote:I have a 69 D-100 Custom that has an original AC setup that I'd like to replace with a simple heater box. Yes, it was indeed a bear to remove, but I did it. 3 nuts on the firewall and 3 different brackets inside. One of the brackets required removing the glove box, one was on the lower inside lip of the dash, and one was on the driver side of the ac box. Now to find a heater box to replace it with. Thanks for the advice.
