Axle flip pinion angle?
For those of you that have done a rear axle flip. What pinion angle are you running? Just wanting to know if you kept the factory angle by lining up the perches or went with a little different angle since it's lowered?
Re: Axle flip pinion angle?
You'll get your base line by placing an angle finder on the trans yoke. For conversation sake, say it's -4* from horizontal (the imaginary line that runs from front to back of the truck). Then stick the angle finder on the pinion yoke. Angle it up so that's it the same angle above horizontal. In this case, +4* horizontal. This if you're running a standard u-joint type drive shaft. If you're running a drive shaft with a CV @ the trans, then just point the pinion yoke right at the trans yoke. I've set up a few trucks both ways and neither method has ever failed me.

Yah I always over think this portion. In my head it just seems like since you're moving the axle up 4" or so that you would have to change the angle. I guess I will probably just weld the perches in line with the factory ones?
