I hope the topic says what I'm trying to say. Have any of you completed a chassis swap from a 1994 and newer W series Dodge and placed it under a swepty? I like the ride comfort the coil suspension provides in the newer 4X4 trucks with the Cummins. I'm weighing all options before I start on my truck . It will depend on the difficulty of the swap whether it happens or not. I have a 1991 W250 cummins, with leaf spring suspension on all corners, and the frame measures very close to the 66 D200 I have. If the newer chassis measures as close, I might rather have that chassis.
Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Its easier to swap the 91 then it is 94, the 94 has ball joints where the 91 doesn’t. if your interested in lifting your truck after the swap, I have seen guys use companies that build lift kits or use a company that makes custom leaf springs.

can t help ya with the way it rides yet. and have a ways to go, but have set a 70 200 crew on a 99/2000 4x4 frame. bought a hard hit 99 2500 v10 to use the rear section of frame and a rear hit 2000 for the front haft, worked out pretty good as to needing to stretch it anyway. have had to fab cab and bed mounts but that part has been far easier than the rust repairs. (dont have the patients for that i should anymore.) it sets a bit higher than what i would like, so a step will be involved. my guess is it will ride and handle as the 2000s do. its 8 or 10 " (mr. memory) longer than the extra cab short bed wheel base was. hoping this winter to be able to blow smoke. now that i ve re read this and your question, as the amount of time it takes me to one finger this, so ill be d to erase it. its not much help.. as Gilda said. never mind.

pretty much, fenders are off an on for trimming the inner fenders and making batt boxes. the later model colume is mounted, got the rockers, floors, and cab mounts done , still bunches of stuff to do. then need to get creative with the air to air or a wet cooler. hoping to get back after it soon. gw

Thanks for your replies guys. GWW thanks for the pictures, that is exactly what I was wondering about. The frame on the newer vehicles seem to me to have more curves to it then the 1993 and older frames. I was concerned with the rad support, cab and box mounting height on the frame. I didn't want to see a huge gap between the frame and body. I actually like the ride height of what you have there. I was looking at the extra cab long box donor so I can cut the frame down to match the crewcab wheelbase. Are you cutting the firewall for your cummins?

your wellcome, as for chopping the fire wall. at this time no. i ll either be laying the air to air flat under the hood with hood scoops or luvers.
or going to a wet cooler. (have nt got that far yet) i m using the rad. and shroud out of a 99 and building a 24 valve to set in the original 2000 2500 mounts. it is tight. triming the front support for rad. and useing a idler and pully out of a 89 dodge cummins (its shorter but also moves the center of the clucth fan) then trimming the fan blades off and inch to center back up in the shroud gained me the 1 1/2 inches i needed. the only thing i can think of that henders the bed from setting as low as the cab on the rails is one of the rear top shock mounts had to be shorted 2 inches to clear. if theres anything else i could check or tell ya about just yell. gw

I just finished looking at all your pictures. You do nice work. Where did you find those cab mounts? Were they from Vintage Power Wagon? I did notice your firewall...I should have looked at all the pictures before asking if you cut yours. I believe I saw in one of Powerwagoncrazy's pictures he took the fan off and therefore was able to have the rad closer to the engine. He then had an electric fan in front of the rad I believe. I was thinking of doing the same on mine.

(good thing i m not building a watch) the cab mounts are what i cut off the newer dodge frames, then added to them for the fronts and cut them down for the rears. im running the original clutch fan, its just been shortend up and inch, also useing an 89 dodge idler and pulley talked about in previous post.

Sorry, I mean't the cab support/mounting bracket. Those look NOS, is that right?

morn n, yes they are the original ones that i removed took apart and replaced the rust and reinstalled.
