Sir
My feelings on this ...
If you have another set that are good, use them for now
( I do not like to see good things thrown away ).

Re: springs
I'm getting ready to go through my springs. I'm looking at having a local drive line shop with a good reputation redo them. I stopped by the other day to let them have a look. I've seen several data plates for these trucks and mine has the lightest listed that I've ever seen. Of course, that's not what is on there now. Someone really beefed up the front when they swapped out the 318 for a 440. But they only added a helper to the rear. The helper is worthless and it sags considerably with any kind of weight in the back. The drive line shop quoted me $175/corner to go through them and that includes any rearching that needs done, all new bushings, all new clips, and adding a leaf to each side in the rear. But at that price I'm removing the springs from the truck and bringing them in.
I don't know what new springs cost but having them redone sounds like the way I'm going to go. The shop is willing to work with me and try some stuff to get me exactly what I want.

Re: springs
There is a pretty big difference of opinion between rearching and replacing springs. I ordered new springs from ESPO (springsnthings.com) simply because I did not own a set of the exact springs I wanted to run. For all four springs, U-bolts, and shipping all the way to WA, it cost just a tad more than what Chilort quoted. Worth noting though, is that they could not get springs for the rear for my application ('69 W100). They set me up with some for a '72, that I plan to modify to fit...
