I'm ready to put 9 to 10 foot slide in camper on my '67 D200. I had an 8 footer before without a problem. I'd like to know if there's an easy fitting sway/anti-roll bar for me? John, Tyler, TX

I have a rear sway bar that I bought, but decided not to use it. I flipped the axle on mine, so the swaybar would be under the axle...I didn't like the ground clearance loss. I started to mount it, but never even drilled the holes in the frame. I'd be happy to sell it to you, but I don't recall what I paid for it? I'll make you a good deal on it if you want it. I can't even remember how I got the part number for the right one...maybe they also fit the newer trucks? I think someone on this site had done the research, and came up with the one that works on our trucks. It's pretty heavy duty, must be one inch diameter maybe?

Maybe someone will chime in that has used one to let you know how helpful it would be. I'm sure it would make a huge difference, but can't say that from an experience standpoint. I did try taking off the front swaybar, and I had that back on the next day! What a difference that made!

Can you post a pick. I'm not sure I've evern seen a sway bar for these beasts.

I'll be home next weekend, so maybe I can get a part number as well as a pic. It pretty much looks like any other swaybar that would go on the front of most cars. Kinda hard to describe, I'll try to post some pics. I think the important part is it being the correct width to match up with the framerails, which it does.

Actually they came standard on the Cushioned-Beam front suspension starting in 1969 or was it 70.

Factory rear sway bars? Cool, I did not know that!

Front only. I didn't know if the original poster was thinking of a front or rear swaybar.

My W200 is stiff as an old oak tree.

Mine wasn't so much of a leaning problem, it was a launching problem. It about flipped over on it's right sight when I launched it! lol I wanted to try the rear anti-sway bar to keep it from twisting in hopes that I could remove the front one...to remove the weight from the nose, and add it to the rear. I did notice that it didn't corner as well with the front one off as well, but then again I do have half of the front springs removed!

I saw one of these front sway bars the other day in the junk yard. I nearly pulled everything but decided against it since I was in something of a time crunch. I was also not too sure about using a 40+ year old sway bar but then again, almost everything on my truck is 40+ years old! I would ask if anyone is making these sway bars but I probably know the answer already, and it looks like where it mounts up is probably not a universal part (i.e. if you've got a '68 it didn't come ready to mount a sway bar).

My 69 Adventurer had a front sway bar so it must have started in 69.

Sorry I took sooo long at resonding to my question. I drive 18 wheels across and through America. I'm not as close as I thought I was to my camper (I have a financial goal). I am still in the market for easy intall anti-sway/roll bar. As before, I had an 8ft DeepQueenCabOver without a problem, but, I want to be solid with a "really big" camper. John (903)372-9742.

John ALL SWEPTLINES from 69-71 have the sway bar.
and the exercetion on my suspension would have to be close to 1G to get any lean
Built mine to drive & have fun, not old an weary I'm doing more suspension work (with leafs) to get more out of her

Thanks for info (69-71 years). I just got home again and worked my budget. I'm further away from buying 'my' camper than I thought. I'm ok with spring work. My front springs are shot (roller coaster bends from years of braking twist). I'm considering air-bags front and rear. I can "create" a 4 corner independent air support system (load bearing assist - not full load bearing) using cab air-ride parts from my semi (18 wheeler) using a 12 volt air compressor. I'm thinking that steel (torsion) anti roll bar will be better and give more instant response to cross winds. (Just thinking out loud)... John, Tyler, TX

John, check the J.C.Whitney catalog. In the sixties and seventies camping was huge and many trucks were sold for that express purpose. Back then the Whitney catalog had many pages of accesories like sway bars and anything else that might be usefull or needed to make a truck handle better. The catalog seems to retain a lot of older items and accessories so you might find what you are looking for there. If not there, try a camper dealer, but it probably will cost more at the dealer.
Not a truck, but I bought a rear sway bar for a 1981 Diplomat two-door from Whitney. That was twenty years ago and that was about the last thing I bought from them.
