I just pulled a 383 and automatic out of a 1974 power wagon. the oil pan is a rear sump. there was plenty of room. But everything I read says i need a front sump pan to put this engine and tranny in my 1970 w200 crew cab. will this setup work as it is?

Trucks are normally rear sump, while cars were normally front sump. Where were you getting the info on needing a front sump for a truck?

I would swear my 1965 crew had a front sump but someone could have dropped a car engine into it. My engine code, vin number and registration are all different years. I put a 360 magnum in it with a rear sump and was worried but the sump is fully behind the axle.

Sweptlines used a front sump pan but many have found they have enough room to use a rear sump pan.

Correct, 61-71 trucks are all front sump. 72-93 trucks are rear sump. Pass. are mid sump.
