this is when you should have ran!! That's got to be the worst "shop" I have ever heard of. Sad part is they were about to charge you another $600 and still not have if fixed! Hope you didnt waste too much money on them. Glad to hear you got it going. :Thumbsup

well went for inspection. noticed at the gas station the right turn signal not that bright. had to take it home to fix it. Got that done, but when pulling out of the garage the rear drivers brake locking up under little pressure..Seems like it is never ending with this truck..

It's 46 years old! ! There is a 2005 Dodge out in my driveway with 130k that's already needed a front end rebuild and a leaf spring replaced. So don't be too hard on the old girl. :Thumbsup

Been driving my truck for a few days now and it seems to run high in rpm's when out on the road. I'm thinking about swapping the trans to one with od. My question is is there an exact swap with minimal fab work. And what else would have to be changed. I have searched on here and could not find exact answers to this swap. Thanks in advance.

What trans and diff ratio? Maybe you have 3.91 or something higher in there. If it is still the 8 3/4, then I would swap gears.

I have no idea what trans or rear is in it. Are there any stamping marks on either to research?

Is your truck a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton? The 1/2 ton 8.75 axle is easy to identify due to it's design. The 3/4 ton Dana 60 is pretty easy to identify as well.

If any of these parts are stock to the truck they will be listed on the VIN plate.

like he said, there should be a build plate with all pertinent info inside the driver's side door jamb..

here's what mine looks like:

Valentine's dinner didn't turn out well. Had reservations and was taking the wife out and we were taking the swepty since she had not been in it since I got it fixed. After leaving the house about 2 miles down the road the truck got really loud. I pulled over and noticed the manifold had broken where the exhaust bolts to the manifold. My question is are all 318 exhaust headers the same bolt and exhaust port pattern such as if I look online and search for headers are they going to change or is a 69 318 the same as say a 80's 318 ?

Technically yes, but you may run tino fitment issues with headers clearing cross members and such

Any recommendations fairly inexpensive since I'm planning on pulling out the old exhaust and redoing completely.
