Hello fellas.
My 1964 dart had a mechanical clutch with the slant in it. was virtually problem free. My 61' d-100 has a juice clutch. Aside from keeping it stock, is it worth it or possible to switch
Out the juice jar for all mechanical? A liquid clutch just seems like a bad idea. more seals to go bad, a bigger PITA. All insight is appreciated. Even if some of you guys know which is better from personal experience. Thanks.

Re: question on clutches
I think you would need to change the column too. I run stainless lined cylinders and a mcleod diaghpragm pressure plate with no issue.

Re: question on clutches
I would stay hydraulic. It's no different than a brake system. Very reliable. Trucks usually had heavier clutches, so hyd helps your leg. I've driven both and mechanical requires more strength to push & hold. Not saying mechanical is hard, just saying not worth swapping.

Re: question on clutches
For those of you who are running diaphragm clutches, did you removed the over center spring? I have heard people recommend removing them, but was looking for some feed back from those who did or didn't. I don't mean to highjack, but it seemed like a good place to post.

Re: question on clutches
to change to the dart clutch requires changing the bell-housing I believe. The dart should have a drop-able cross member and aluminum bell-housing. The truck has a cast iron bell-housing with no removable cross member. Also the truck has bell-housing mounts where the cars have a mount on the transmission. So i would stay with the hydraulic because it will be a lot of work for little gain

Re: question on clutches
Also, the cars have a 23 spline clutch and the trucks have a 10.

Re: question on clutches
Not a very good choice a dart is a light weight car compared to the truck which can get very heavy if loaded I wouldn't do it!!

Thank you for your insights. As for the SS sleeves, are those home made or is it a kit offered somewhere?
