Would this be a good candidate for an axle swap? I want Dana 60's front and rear. What are some pickups to keep an eye out for? This is an 86 d250

That doesn't look like a 60 rear, and my guess is a 44 front. Early 90s with a cummins seem to be the easiest place to find a front 60. The dead giveaway is a "60" cast into the web on the right side of the diff cover as you are facing it

That's a 9 1/4.

The first gen cummins rigs (1988-1993) would have the axles you want with the correct pad spacing. They would have a Dana 60 and 70.

I agree, the first gen trucks would be the best bet, but they come with a large price tag. Is there dodge trucks with gas motors that have the same chassis/ axles set up as a first gen that may be easier/ cheaper? I have a first gen with the get rag 5spd 2wd duelly now, just need the axles and transfer case. I think finding a complete truck would be best for me rather then one part at a time... just wondering what all trucks I should look out for. This one (above) I found on craigslist for less then a grand. So I figured I'd run it by you guys. Thanks for the input by the way! There are some badass crews getting built on here!

You can probly get a Dana 70 rear on craigslist or at a wrecking yard for fairly cheap $300 or less. Dana 80's are a little more usually. Might even get lucky and find a newer 2nd gen dodge 70 or 80 rear with disk brakes. Any Dana 60F (kingpin SRW) will be $800 plus. Watch out for those Dana 61 fronts (3.07 ratio) in the first gens. You don't want those unless you want to stick with that tall gear ratio.
