Clutch master cylinder
My clutch pedal on my 67 power wagon started falling to the floor today. I think it's the clutch master cylinder? Anyone tried the repair kit? There's one listed in Rock auto

Re: Clutch master cylinder
Easy to repair with a kit. No guarantee . I have done them many times. Last one I kitted was my 70 D500 and that was 7/8 years ago. Flush them once and awhile to keep clean brake fluid in them.
Last year the slave went and I was unable to get a kit for it but found that Chinese knockoff slave cylinders were available. So far its O K a year later.

Re: Clutch master cylinder
I'd say it sounds like a master problem. Is this a new replacement or a new piece? Your slave could also be failing. I had fluid on the floor of the cab which led me to a replacement. My autozone junk lasted 3 yrs with very light useage. You'll pay for 3 chinese ones when the pricey stainless sleeve will last forever.

Re: Clutch master cylinder
No just the old original. The truck sat for 10 years, had it running for about 5 now. The last year and a half the pedal has been sticking down after sitting for a week or more. Only would do it first start then be fine till it sat for a while again. Now it just wants to be on the floor
Re: Clutch master cylinder
my slave failed after only 3 years due to moisture, rust. Im trying silicone. So far, working good. Ill let everyone know how it lasts. In therory, should make master cylinder and slave cyl. last a lot longer as silicone doesnt attract moisture. Im uning silicone in the brakes also.

Re: Clutch master cylinder
It can only be MC, slave or any line in between, especially if there happens to be any flex line.
All this is assuming there are no problems with the components inside the bellhousing, which is unlikely since it would show up upon operation.

Here is John's email:

Don't think about the upfront cost. Think about NEVER having to replace them again. I replaced 2 and then decided to stop being foolish. Get your Slave and Brake master here too. Brake master is all I need to get from him sometime at this point.
Also, it's nice to send him a core but not necessary. I sent him 3 b/c I didn't need them.
