exhaust manifold and the engine oil was nasty dirty. When I removed the manifold to replace it
I broke a stud bolt, so removed the head to make it easier to repair. With the head off I could see the condition
of water jacket, for an old truck I was happy to find the inside looked like new zero rust no corrosion what so ever. However the oil galleys were for better word... gunked up.
Installed new gaskets head ,manifold ,water pump ,fresh oil mixed in quart of Marvel Mystery and new filter.
Back together the first fire up smoked like an army trying to confuse the enemy.Ran engine for 1/2 hour or so did his several times, then replaced that oil and filter, now light blue smoke (oil)
The thing is it did not smoke at all when I first got the truck

So I want to find the source. vales or rings or both or head gasket leak.
Never having performed a leak down before, need advice on how it is done.
