Borg Warner T-56 Adapted?

So my truck has been great as a daily driver for about a year and a half now. She has a 383 with a 727. I just put an ebay alminum radiator in her and she finally runs nice and cool.

I want to use the truck for some local road trips and I want to go places at 75-80 MPH possibly pulling a trailer. An O/D Mopar tranny is out of the question since no one makes a bell housing for the 383.

There are companies out there that sell parts to adapt the T56 to a Mopar big block. I would love to put a T56 in my truck, the .50:1 6th gear would be awesome for 1,500 RPMS at 70 MPH. The T56 has been the manaul tranny in every American V8 sports car and muscle car since the late 90s. The T56 was orginally developed for the Viper. They are a dime a dozen as Camaros and Firebirds hit the junk yards.

Has anyone done a T56 swap? The set up would be similar to Gearz' Cherry Bomb which used a TR-6060.

I'm hoping I can source enough cheap used parts to make it worth while. If not, I'll probably just go for plan B which includes just buying a Motorcycle.

I've never seen it done but it shouldn't be too hard, there's plenty of space. The only issue I can see is the shifter position, it might be back under the seat, even if not it will be a stubby little car shifter.

Get out your tape measure and let us know how it looks! Those trucks have a lot more leg room than a sweptie cab, but who knows how the shifter will come out in relation to the bellhousing face.

Seems totally doable, do they have a cable speedo version?
