I was debating on a set of shorty headers for my 68 big block since I have the cross member situation. Has anyone used these instead of cutting the cross member out? If so I would like to know the brand and part number if possible. I found the set below, but I am not sure if they are made to clear the rather large engine mounts.

those look like the ones jeff used on his short bed, dont recall him having any clearance issues.

They do look like Jeff's but I don't know who made his. Sanderson used to build shorty's but not sure if they still do. I used Heddman 79250's with a lot of modification to make them fit.

Does anyone know any interference issues I might have with 'em?
I'm OK w/cross member interference since I'm fabbing up a whole new linked front suspension for the truck.
My main concern is interference to the slave cylinder on the bellhousing.

From the pics I have found of these headers mounted on a block it appears that the bell shaped engine mounts will be an issue. Perhaps I can just swap them out to the later model mounts and all will be well. Or maybe I will just keep the oem manifolds and worry about it at a later time.

I had a set of homemade mounts for the 440 in my truck that allowed the Headmans to fit. When I rebuilt the engine I installed the stock style mount and the Headmans no longer worked (once side was close but the other side would have never fit (and I beat on it for a while). I ended up getting the Hooker headers and cutting out the crossover. I've had no problems with the cut out cross over but when I get some time I do plan on boxing that area in for added strength. If I had a bottomless wallet I would have had a set made because the Hookers require some interesting exhaust pipe routing even with the cross member cut out.
