So I was browsing some classifieds when I came across an 8.0 L V10 for sale out of a '96 Ram... Does anyone know what manual transmissions will fit this? The donor truck is an automatic :shame . Any chance my 435 4 speed will bolt right up? Has anyone ever put a V10 in a swepty before?
***I just realised I spelt transmission wrong :banghead

They used the same NV 4500 as the cummins trucks.

Digdug has it the v-10 and diesel share the same bellhousing. Would take a few adjustments. :study

The nv4500 Is different from the diesels. The input shaft is smaller

The V8 version input shaft is smaller. Cummins and V10 are the same.

I wonder about the 10 fitting under the good and between the frame and fenders.

The V8 version isn't compatible. The v10 version is but just with a smaller input shaft. Not a issue unless its a high power application

David

Think of the V-10's width and depth as the A-318/ LA-318 with two extra cylinders added to the front.

The Radiator will need moved more towards the front and a Fan Shroud for the "well do I really need one" group.

For The Rear Axle The HHPP Assembly will keep some of "the hop - from hopping".

Had a Swepty show up at a cruise in with a Viper V-10 and 6 speed in it. Looked pretty good. Mike

That's sweet...I've seen a Charger and a Challenger with V-10s in them. Good stuff, looks like a stock set-up.

I'm looking at either rebuilding the 440 for my short wide or picking up a truck V10

I never thought a Sweptline engine compartment would look small.

Electric water pump will give you some room.

On the "bolt right up to the 435" issue, I'm almost positive a getrag bell housing from a 1st gen cummins would do the trick. I like the NV4500 better, but I do think it's possible. :2cents
