Just moanin'-good ol' days of parts in stock

Post by elacruze »

Disassembled my clutch master cylinder to find the front cup broken in two. Found that it uses a 1-1/8" cup, and that the wheel cylinders are also 1-1/8".

Silly me, to believe that one of the dozen or so parts stores around town would have;
1. Clutch master cyl rebuild kit.
2. Loose 1-1/8" cups.
3. Brake cylinder rebuild kit.
4. Brake cylinder.
5. New master cylinder (sure we can order it for $114)

Only the happy skinny Indian at the Autozone wholesale counter cared to help, computer said they had a cyl. rebuild kit in stock but of course it wasn't and they lost saled it...at least he tried which is more than the fat Americans at the other stores did for me. Nobody else could even tell me the wheel cyl. bore diameter.

I guess I'll have to go internet shopping and leave the truck down for a week.

NAPA has the slave for about $35.00
Car Quest has the repair kits $15.00 there are 6 kits in Riverside, Ca.,
was 7 and when I go to get it I think I'll order one or two more so I'll have them
for later on rebuilds

Will check on the Master kits also

RockAuto (internet) has all those parts. Very reasonably priced. I use them for parts often.

Just the thread I was looking for. I make it into town on the weekends - that's the best I can do. So Saturday, I have to order a lower radiator hose for my truck - not in stock, of course. I go back next Saturday - "sorry, sent it back to the warehouse - we can only keep it on the shelf for 5 days." WHAT?? How stupid is that? So I moan about it and the lady says she'll reorder it and put a note on it. Guess what happened next Saturday? Generally speaking, the folks at O'Reilly's know their stuff, but that kind of customer service drives me nuts. Besides, ever since I got my pickup, I have to return 1/2 the stuff because it's wrong. So, I'm shopping at autozone or rockauto now. Thanks for letting me vent.

Just can't win.

My new $114 master works great.

Found that Doorman http://www.doormanproducts.com has rebuild kits...CMK35200.

I'm going to take that number to the same guys I asked all over about the kit, and see if they can order it. Then read them the riot act if they can.
