were the same slant sixes used in cars and trucks

Was there any difference between a slant 6 that came in a pick up and a car the reason im asking is because i found a spare low mile slant six very cheap out of a 68 valiant .

There are no significant differences. The /6 was originally increased to 225 cu.in. to accommodate truck usage.

You might run into pan differences, depending on what the Slant was in in the first place, but other than that, they are the same engines.

Aslo the end of the crank may or may not be drilled for a pilot bushing. If it is drilled for one it may not be finished drilled for the bushing but you can get either size. You can also use the needle "roller" bushing out of a Dakota pick up.

There is one main differace between the truck and car engines, the crank, heavier forged cranks in the truck engine. Other than the flange on the crank changing in 67 on all slants, cars or trucks there is little differances. Note, \6> the 66 and early cranks all have a smaller centering ring
than the 67 and later cranks (later cranks use the same size ring as the v8 engine, but one crank bolt hole is offset differant than the v8)

Can or does the centering ring need to be switched when mating an early block to a later model trans?
