could be that the lock tab between the two nuts on the spindle were not used.
that allows the hub to move around if the nuts loosen up, or they could have been adjusted too tight.

I lost the bearings on the left side in my 70 W-300
I figure that several hundred thousand miles and lots of weight caught up to me,
and of course years of time.

mine went with a ton and a half of hay on the pickup
everything broke a mile from the house, it gave up when the axle broke off
thought I could get it home on it's own power, but nooooo

I've got a couple of those rears and it's hard to get the 61 D-500 over 55mph,
would not be too bad if you had 50" tires,
but then it would need atleast a 440 for power.

actuly tthis happend to a ford not my truck

it was my dads 4x4 van with a dana 70 so i guess we can all laugh at him for owning a ford
just kidding i like all makes, just dodge a whole lot more

so the spindle pretty buggerd up but we think we can fix it the nut and inner bearing race are melted to gether and then melted to the spindle
so we going to heat it up and try to get the nut off and then chase the treads out.

so thats the game plan.
